Democratic nominees spend more money than they collected in donations

Democratic nominees have crossed the $1 billion mark when it comes to campaign funding during the 2020 election. As the US Primaries progress, many of the nominees have dropped from the race.

For the first time there were 3 billionaires in the running for Presidency in 2020.

The biggest spender of this race is Mike Bloomberg, a billionaire, who has dropped out of the race. Despite contributing the most to his campaign, Bloomberg fell short with only 61 delegate votes.

Take a look at the democratic nominees who raised the most money on their campaign, according to the FEC:

Tom Steyer, also a billionaire, dropped out of the race in February as he received no democratic delegate votes. The forefront runners of the democratic party are Joe Biden (former Vice President of the United States) and Bernie Sanders (United States Senator).

Biden is leading the race with 898 votes with Sanders following behind with 745 votes. Super Tuesday, March 17, 2020, can be a definitive moment for one of these nominees as Illinois, Arizona, Florida and Ohio are all participating.
