Google Trends: TMZ deemed unethical for releasing Kobe’s death while their digital clicks surge and Google’s most searched romance movies on Valentine’s Day.

TMZ unveils Kobe Bryant’s death

On January 26, 2020, NBA All-Star Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Bryant and 7 others died in a helicopter crash. Arriving on the scene, TMZ reported the death of Bryant first. Los Angeles County Under-sheriff Tim Murakami tweeted, “”I understand getting the scoop but please allow us time to make personal notifications to their loved ones. It’s very cold to hear of the loss via media. Breaks my heart.”

According to Google Trends, TMZ surpassed both ESPN and CNN in Google searches on January 26,2020 and all of the other media outlets. There was a decline in searches for TMZ within the next few days.

Romance on Valentine’s Day

According to The Top Tens, some of the most critically acclaimed romance movies are: The Notebook, Titanic and Forrest Gump with The Notebook being the highest rated.

Valentine’s Day is one of the most celebrated holiday’s in America with a sudden spike in chocolate, flowers and stuffed animal purchases throughout the country. While many people are out buying gifts for their significant others, most are thinking of the perfect date.
